Whether I am working with wood, stone, metal or other mixed media elements, I try to create objects that are pleasing to the eye and soul. Once an idea is conceived, I gather all that is necessary to bring the vision into focus. My first step is to gather all the equipment and materials needed for my task. Sometimes I may spend hour's doing research to find alternative techniques to help me improve my skills. Having a penchant for rare and unique objects helps me to stay focused on originality. Serene and tranquil surroundings bring out the best in me. My journey into the art world has allowed me the opportunity to meet and view some magnificent artist and spectacular artwork. Just as I am inspired by the accomplishments of the great masters, I strive to make my own mark be it big or small. My current works are entitled " Women In Waiting. " This series of work is my personal Tribute to child baring women. Each piece is designed differently to symbolize the individuality during the actual experience. My inspiration to create this work came from my viewing of a live childbirth. Seeing a new life begin such as birth is an event that I feel everyone should witness if ever the chance arises. In art it is often said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, without the beauty of birth there would be no you and I to view all the artistic wonders of our universe. Having lost several close female family members and friends over the past few years to the battle of Cancer have had a very tremendous impact on my life. The most recent in January 1997. These women were like the Millions of unsung women heroines that shape the lives of nations, and seemingly their accomplishments go overlooked or unnoticed. They sought no fame or applause because Love and respect were their motivation. After my emotional struggles in 1997, I've decided to dedicate my artistic talents to incorporate women of every nationality, creed and color in all my works. My ultimate goal for these collections will be to help raise funds for women and children charities.
