Anthony L. Hurt born in Jersey City, New Jersey. A graduate of Prince Edward High School. He received his Associate of Art Degree from Chowan College located in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. He later attended Howard University and studied under Charles White. While serving in the United Stated Air Force he continues his studies with influence from artist such as i.e. ... Gorden Parks, Piccasso, Salvador Dali, and Archibald J. Motley Jr. to name a few.
After his days of active duty in the military, he moved to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and became involved in several local groups of artists. Establishing a network for business, sharing tips and technique in hopes of influencing and enhancing the growth of the arts in the Hampton Roads area.
Anthony is currently a member of the Peninsula Arts Association. Also, he is affiliated with the Southeastern Art(s) Association, and the Hampton Museum of Art. He has artwork presently on display in the Tidewater Area and does private showings and festivals. He has just completed a series on life as he knows it. Growing up in the south and how the southern lifestyle portrayed as a suttled, peaceful way of living and how for some the nostagia of these times may be cherished forever.
The series opens wht four black & white graphite drawings in limited editions with new releases to follow. He is currently working on a color series of paintings reflecting the last fifty years of changes in lifestyles influenced by rapid growth in communication, and technology.
