Edith originally ran several Day Schools/ Youth Centers in Germany. She began her sculpture career as a potter in Ahaus (Dutch/German Border). Since then, Ms. Deltgen has had several group and single artist shows in and around Cologne, Ahaus, Gronau, and Dortmund.
After she moved to Fairfax, Va. in 1983, she became a member of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va., the Fairfax County Counsel for the Arts, and Grace in Reston. Her works have been chosen for Multi-Media Shows, Torpedo Factory Shows, Judicial Center Shows, Washington Projects for the Arts, and the Burnell Morgan Mill Show where she has received several awards for outstanding work. Edith Deltgen also taught at the Creative Climb Gallery in Fairfax where she had a studio (Main Street). Meanwhile, she opened an art gallery in Occoquan, Va. called "Piece of Mind Gallery."
Three years ago, she moved to Kill Devil Hills, N.C. Her recent achievements include 3 excellence awards for sculpture, mixed- media, collage, and performance art. Edith won first place in 1996 at a state-wide women's show in Winston Salem, N.C. (sculpture). She currently works in pastel, mixed-media, sculpture, cast paper and concrete-casting.
